Beards Make You More Attractive, Apparently
If you’ve been trying to decide whether to keep your facial hair or to have it shaved off, a study published in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology might encourage you to keep your beard.
Esquire reported that 8,500 women were asked to rate men with and without facial hair based on who had higher boyfriend potential. Every woman who took part preferred men with facial hair.
However, it’s not just as simple as having a beard or not, as there are some variations that boost your sex appeal in different ways.
For instance, heavy stubble was found to be the best option in terms of general attractiveness. Full beards came in second place, followed by light stubble. The research also noted that men with full beards were deemed to be “more attractive than clean-shaven faces for long-term relationships”.
The study also stated that “beards may signal men’s age and masculine social dominance”. So there you have it, science has found that if you’re looking for a partner you might be best off growing a beard.
It’s probably not a bad idea to pop into your barbers in Halifax on a regular basis to make sure it’s well looked after too.
